Getting ready to come home!

Today we are getting ready to come home! Can you believe it's been 7 weeks! Wow, time flies! We have had a great time, but we are ready to come home. The kids say they miss their friends and their toys! Chris and I are just ready to be back to normal. Off I go to do laundry. Enjoy the new pictures!

My Tire

Yesterday, Thursday, the kids and I went to "The Dukes of Hazzard" museum called Cooter's. I enjoyed seeing all the vintage Dukes items. It was so cool, they actually had a vintage Duke's three wheeler, exactly like the one my sister had! The kids didn't have that much fun. They like seeing the car, but all the other stuff bored them.

When driving around to see the area and looking for the Opryland Hotel, I ran into some trouble. I was a little lost and was trying to turn around. There was old brick curbing, and I accidentally hit it. It damaged my tire. Although it was still drivable, it was VERY damaged, and could have blown at any second. I drove under the minimum speed limit to get back to my hotel, where I found a place that could replace my tire. The tire wasn't cheap, but I will be able to get home.

We leave tomorrow morning. I have had a lot of fun on this trip, but I am ready to get back. I haven't been disciplining they way I should. And I think it shows in the kids, especially Caleb. Today I need to do laundry and pack up. I think Chris and I are both tired of traveling, but Chris has one more week.

Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow

Yesterday we hung out at the hotel. We went swimming, the kids jumped on the beds forever! These beds are VERY springy! We got a got a storm in the afternoon, so we hung out at the hotel watching TV. Well, I should say, Caleb and I watched TV. We watched three shows of "The Dukes of Hazzard". My sister and I used to watch it when we were little. My sister even had a Dukes of Hazzard three wheeler. With a break that would make you spin like the General Lee (the car in the show!) Anyways! It was fun to share with Caleb something that I liked as a kid.

Today we were thinking about going to Cooter's Famous Museum. There are props, costumes, and Memorabilia from "The Dukes of Hazzard". I think Caleb and I will have lots of fun. The girls will just be coming along for the ride! The Simmons Family also told me about a place by Grand Ol' Opry Hotel, which is right next door. So we will check that out today too.

Tomorrow, I think we have to do laundry.

Adventure Science Center

Today we spent the entire day at the Adventure Science Center. It was a lot of fun. My favorite was the "Amazing Age Progression Machine" I hope I don't look that bad at 72! Abi looked a lot like my grandma. Caleb looked deformed. And the machine wouldn't work for Grace. Abi really liked playing doctor and seeing the inside of a human body. We played with models and x-rays. And we saw a REAL human brain! The kids also lifted a real car, I'm not kidding! They had a lever set up that allowed both Abi and Caleb to lift a real car. Grace tried, but it was a little too heavy for her. All the kids played in the huge play thing. It goes up 6+ floors. There is a really tight staircase to walk up to the top, if you didn't want to go through the play structure. I was never really afraid of heights, but today, that was a little different! I carried Elijah and helped Zoe the whole way up, and it's wasn't fun for me! I felt VERY dizzy. Caleb said that he liked everything. Grace said she really like the dinosaurs. And I think Zoe liked the racing balls the best. Everyone had a really good time. And there was so much to explore it was Science OVERLOAD!

"Traveler's Rest" and Downtown Nashville

This morning, Monday, we went to a historical home called, "Traveler's Rest". It was nice. The mother of the household was soo... interesting! She was a mother of 8, who watched all children grow to adulthood! That was uncommon back then, they said she used herbs for any illnesses that came along. She had her own herb garden and weaving house. Upstairs of her weaving room was her home school room, which was also very, very neat! She was also VERY good friends with President Jackson's wife, who also is Presbyterian! I think I enjoyed it more than the kids. There was a camp that was on tour, and they asked if we wanted to tag along for FREE! We did of course, hey, it was FREE! I got lots of cool pictures!

After lunch, we went downtown Nashville. We walked over the Cumberland River on the really cool land bridge. Which is huge. Then we walked around town. We went into several stores, window shopping. We didn't buy anything, but we had a lot of fun trying on hats and boots. We also learned about boots, and the many, many different skins they can be made of. It was very interesting, and some of them are very expensive!

We picked up daddy from work, and now we are waiting for the hotel dinner time. Which will be in 15 minutes. They are calling for T-Storms tonight, so we will probably just stay in tonight. More pictures, coming soon!

Tennessee

We are now in Tennessee! We drove all day Saturday and got in around 3 am, however because we changed time zones, it was really 2 am. I am going to try and explain time zones tomorrow. Half way to Tennessee our van went over 100,000 miles. We have traveled a lot this trip.

We had a hard time trying to find a good church in Nashville. We ended up going to a PCA Church. This particular one is known, because several Contemporary Christian Artists attend this particular church. Derek Web, Steven Curtis Chapman, and Charley Peacock to name a few. Ashley Cleveland lead the worship time. We were very discouraged with their order of worship, or lack there of. It was like a rock concert, not a church service. In the end, the sermon was fine. However, we are REALLY looking forwards to worshiping again at Pilgrim OPC.

In the afternoon, we drove into Nashville and checked out the city. I have no clue what we will do this week. I'm not into Country Music. I guess we will see what we get into tomorrow.

We are now hanging out at the hotel, I played a board game with the kids. And the kids and I watched Daddy play in the excerise room. He wanted to see if he could run as fast as the machine would go! We all got a good laugh!!! I took a picture! After about three minutes he was done, Ha Ha! I think it's about time for bed.

Hanging out

The last few days we have been hanging out. Thursday we spent all day at the pool, around 1 pm, we got T-Storms, so we came back to the room to hang out. The kids watched a movie and ate popcorn, then we all napped. Friday we spent all morning doing laundry. We picked up Chris early from work. and all came back to the hotel and took a nap. In the evening we all went out for dinner. We went to a place called Steak and Shakes. It was a really neat place, but we had a REALLY bad waiter. He kind of ruined the experience. We are preparing to leave for Tennessee. We plan to leave before lunch on Saturday.

Gaterland

So, we did everything we wanted to do while in Florida, except one thing. The kids wanted to see an alligator. We could go out to the swamp and walk around waiting to see a gator, but that didn't sound very safe! So yesterday, we went to Gaterland. We found some cheap tickets at AAA. This was the only thing that we have done, that wasn't free. I felt bad that Chris couldn't come. He has been working so hard. This whole trip, with the exception of our week in PA with family, was his only break. Last night he fell asleep on the ride back to the hotel. After I put the kids to bed, he had to do some work. Then this morning, when I woke up, he was back to doing more work, before work.

Anyways. So yesterday, we went to Gaterland. It was fun. We all touched an alligator. The baby ones are soo.... cute, well, for a gator! But, the huge ones are scary! We were able to feed them hotdogs. I think some of them are over fed. But then there is a swamp area, we threw a hot dog in the water and it was gone! If someone would fall in there. They would be history. We also, got a chance to see some wild flamingos, which was a bonus! They also have a water park area and a train, which the kids enjoyed. It was a very hot day. On the way home we got caught in a T-Storm. We have been blessed with Great Weather throughout the day. I'm ready for a day at the hotel. I think today we hang out at the hotel pool.

New Pictures

I just updated the blog with pictures. As before, they are out of order, but at least they are posted! Enjoy!

Downtown Disney and the Largest McDonald's in the world

Today we spent the day at Downtown Disney. If you've never been, it a little shopping area by Disney that is free, unless you shop! We didn't buy anything, but we spent four hours there looking! We had a lot of fun we played at the lego store, the disney store, played in the fountains, rode the water taxi and just walked around checking out the sites!

We also ate today at the World's Largest McDonald's. It's the largest because of the arcade and huge play area. The kids played at the play area for awhile, enjoyed the air conditioning. It was a hot day, no T-Storms here!
