Topsail Photos

Here are the photos from our family beach trip... ENJOY!
The videos are the same photos, just different music. Youtube would not allow me to use the music I selected, so I uploaded the video I made to blogger seperate. Youtube you can see the photos better, but I prefer the music in the 2nd video.

Visit with Pappy and Grammy

I just went to load my photos of our visit with Pappy and Grammy Mathna. They had just spent a week visiting the Reederbunch. To my surprise! There were none!!! What! I had one lonely photo of Pappy and Grammy in the swimming pool with the children. Check out the following post to see. Sorry Pappy and Grammy! We had a blast with you. We must have had so much fun... I forgot to take pictures!

Fun Watermelon Photos

On one of our recent visits to the pool, I took watermelon for the children. Here are a few photos I took. I think I took more with my parents cameras? These are all I took!

Zoe's 4th Birthday

Zoe had a very special birthday. She made a list of all the fun things she wanted to do on her special day. Pappy and Grammy Mathna were even able to join in on the birthday fun, as they were visiting the week of her birthday! Zoe fun day involved a trip to Build-a-Bear, a Subway lunch, swimming, healthy vegan banana strawberry cake, and gifts. What more could a little girl ask for. :)

Thank You Great Grandpa and Great Grandma

Hannah and Zoe both share the same birthday month. We wanted to sent a special thank you to Great Grandpa and Great Grandma Carnes for the gifts you sent. My batteries on my camera started to die as soon as the box was opened, so the photos that I caught were not the best. But I thought I'd post them anyways. Thanks again!

The 3-Drawer Cart

In another video, I showed you our older children's toy closet. In this video I'm showing you our younger children's toys, which we store in a 3-drawer cart. We choose to not have a lot of toys. Allowing the children to use their imagination, it's amazing all the things that a toy block can become. The children love it, because clean up time is quick and painless. Enjoy the video.

Answering a common question

Just this morning, I was asked the question, "Do you never have problems with the modesty issue or having children go to sleep when they are all together and can have a hard time settling down?" This is actually a common question people ask.

First, I will address the modesty issue. No, we don't have a problem with modesty issues. Our family closet is located in another area of our home. We are training our children, when it is time to get dressed or ready for bedtime, they take their clothing into the bathroom, and change. Some of our younger children don't exactly get modesty yet. But we do have a house rule. "All children ages 3 and up must be modest in dress at all times." (we do cut our 3 year old a little slack, because sometimes she seriously needs help) If they aren't modest, then it becomes a discipline issue, which needs addressed, because they are breaking our house rule.

To answer the second half of your question. My husband reads to our children every night before going to bed. It is a time to settle down and relax. Everyone lays in their own bed and listens. A lot of times, a couple of children will fall asleep during the story, normally the younger ones. But the children understand that it is bedtime and it becomes a discipline issue if they aren't laying in bed quietly. They know that we ask them to lay still, so if they aren't obeying, they are breaking God's 5th Commandment.

I hope this helps answer your questions.

Toy Closet

You asked for it... I had a ton of people write me asking where my children's toys were? Our children have a small amount of toys. I believe that children today have too many toys. Media tells you to buy, buy, buy. People think that for Birthday's and Holiday's children need gifts, gifts, and more gifts. They don't. They need space to play and enjoy a few of their favorite things. Here is a video of our toy closet. We also have a game closet and a 3 drawer cart of toys for our little ones. In our garage we have a box of dress-up which is their Sunday Special Box. And of course bikes and a few outside toys. This is enough toys, and "no" our children do not watch TV. (a few movies here and there, but not a normal occurrence and no cable.) They draw, play piano, read, spend quality time with one another, and play with a few of their favorite things which is just enough.

Happy Birthday Hannah

Today our little girl turned 1. Just 1 year ago today 08-08-08, Hannah joined our Reederbunch. Today we had a little family party for her Healthy Vegan Blueberry Crisp made mostly of blueberries, homemade applesauce, and oats. Yummy! It was a crowd pleaser. She also opened a few gifts. Her favorite was a pink sippy cup and some yummy puffs. I made a short video of the photos taken today. Enjoy!

What is a family closet?

In trying to answer some of my followers. Yes, the reederbunch actually has a few follower's... who aren't family! haha... at least that is what blogger calls them. The question was raised... What is a family closet? We house everyone's clothing, except my husbands, in one closet. (He stores his in his home office.) In this short video you get to see first hand our family closet.

Where the parents sleep...

For those of you who are really curious. This is our room. Once again, plain, simple, and easy to clean. The room looked nicer without the treadmill, but I look nicer with it. haha...

Hannah Tries to Walk

Here is a short video I caught of Hannah trying to walk. Of course as soon as I got the camera out she wouldn't try anymore!

What do you do with all your shoes?

Up until recently, we had one large shoe basket which housed all the children's shoes. This... didn't work. The children would dump the basket looking for their shoes and then there would be shoes all over the floor. Which was a pet peeve of mine. Just recently, I came up with this solution. Personal baskets. This way, it is easier to find their shoes, so far it has been a great solution. I took card stock and ribbon and label everyone's basket, which the children love. I have also decided if your shoes don't fit in the basket, you have too many shoes. Hmmm... I think Abi needs to downsize, her basket is starting to run over.

The Dorm Room

This is it... where the five of our six children sleep. In about 6 months, Hannah will join the rest of the children. And then all six beds will be filled. The children all love sleeping together in one room. Daddy tucks the children in every night and reads to them before going to bed. He then prays with them and blesses them. We believe the children all sharing a room really does make them closer. And they love it. As you can see there are six beds, three sets of bunk beds. Their clothes are not kept in their bedroom, only a closet full of their favorite toys. This is the room they sleep and play. It works great for our family. Due to the shape of the room and the door positioning, it is hard to get a good photo, but here you can see the six beds and how they fit perfectly making a u shape!

Baby's Room/Guest Room

So, I had a couple requests from online friends asking about my house... how is it set up with 6 children and #7 on the way? Well here is a tour of our home. Starting with the Baby Room/Guest Room. If you ever come to visit the Reederbunch, this is the room you would be staying. The bed has a trundle like effect. We move the nightstand and pull out a second twin bed. We then move the baby into our room. Like the rest of our home, it is plain, simple, and easy to clean... just the way I like.

Psalm 100

One of the most sung Psalms in our home is Psalm 100. The children have memorized it from the Scottish Psalter, and really enjoy singing it. I video taped them singing it.

Reorganization

What has been keeping me busy this past week? Organizing! Our school year is just now ending. We are cleaning out the old and getting ready to bring in the new! We will take a few weeks off between. But for now... I Organize!!! If I ever put new batteries in my camera, I may even take a picture!
