Pantry Update

Here is an update of our pantry progress!

I am so thankful it's almost finished!!!

Today I put up the burlap curtain.

Cleaned up the bread machine and food dehydrator which will now live in the pantry!!!
Chris built me a shelf where they will fit and added two outlets to my pantry!!!

Loving my bean organization!!!
(I'm a little low on the Navy Beans.)

I am super excited about it's progress, there are still a few more details, but it's perfect for now!

The Cast Comes Off!!!

Today the cast came off!!!

 The sawing begins...

Just look at that Smile!

This tool pulls apart the cast.

 And it's off...

Her leg was so yucky, tons of dead skin.
And it didn't smell pretty either.

Her leg was very stiff and very itchy.
After another x-ray and talk with the doctor,
she was told to go home and take a warm bath.

She will have 2-3 days on crutches until she can slowly build up more weight on her foot.
Then we will have to go back to the doctor in an other two weeks for another x-ray.

My Stash

This blog post is dedicated to my friend Meghan,
who is always willing to share in my cloth excitement!

Okay, so for 5 years we have used the same cloth.  Bumgenuis 3.0 One Size Pocket Diapers, since buying them, I have replaced the velcro with snaps and Elastic.  This is how they look today!
I have loved using them this way, but they are slowly dying.
I started with 24 of them and now have 23, I'm not sure what happened to one of them.
These are my go to diaper.

I also have 3 Ebay China Diapers.
I don't really like them, but they work.  These were $3 a piece, including shipping.
I got a few $1 China diapers, but they didn't last long.

I have 1 Fuzzy Bunz One Size pocket diaper.
(A gift from my diaper crazy friend Meghan. Thank you Meghan.)
I really like it, it's a little harder to stuff, but it has never leaked, and with a smaller baby, you can adjust/tighten the legs easily, which is my favorite part.

I also have 4 Mommy's Touch Diapers.  The 2 on the left are pocket diapers and are also "seconds" apparently there is something wrong with them, but I have no clue what. They were super super cheap, and I really like them, they are great for older children, like my Mary, who is a little larger. (There are even extenders you can buy, for the super big kid.)  The 2 on the right are Mommy's Touch  All-in-Ones, no stuff required, however, one of the inserts snaps in and always comes unsnapped in the wash, so you always have to re-snap, not much different than stuffing.
They work good, but not my favorite all-in-one.

I also have 3 Flip covers.  My Flip covers, which I also don't really use.  Covers always get used more when there are newborns in the house, which will be in 24 weeks.  So these will be getting their workouts then.

Since my main stash of Bumgenuis aren't getting any newer.  Chris has given me permission to slowly add new Bumgenuis Diapers to our rotation.  I decided to try their new "Freetime" All-in-One diapers from Bumgenuis.  This time, I have decided to wait for the colors I want to come into stock.  Our first Bumgenuis diapers, I didn't want to wait, so I just took what they had in stock which was the pastel colors.  This time, we are waiting on the "cool colors".  After 2 weeks of waiting, I have now gotten 4 of my 6 diapers in the mail.  I am hoping my other 2 will come this week.
Patience is hard, but I think will be worth it to have what I want.
The "Freetime" Diapers have their inserts sewn in, no snaps and no stuffing required.
I think I will like them, but haven't used them yet to decide.
I will try and update this later.

My last diaper is Thirty's All-in-one Diaper.
I heard good reviews on this diaper and there are things I like about it more than the
Bumgenuis Freetime Diaper, so I thought I'd pick one up to give it a try.
It came super quick, is super cute, and the price is nice!
So far, I really really like it.

I also wanted to share with everyone my wipes.  We love our homemade flannel wipes.
Cheap flannel baby blankets from a yardsales cut and sewn to just the right size, work GREAT!
We also have some old washclothes we don't love as much, but still work.

The last thing I want to share is my wet bag.  I got this from
The zippers on my other wet bags all broke, so I got this one for a steal!
Check out their steals for the day. :)

I am hoping to have a total of 40 usable either pocket or all-in-one diapers soon.  This would give both Mary and Philip 10 diapers a day, so I only have to do diaper laundry every other day.
We seem to go through diapers fast.

So, what is your FAVORITE diaper?  I'd love to give it a try.

Fall Clothes

We've had some cold days here in SC.
These days have encouraged me to get out the fall clothes!

So today, I spent some time in the shed digging out clothes for the children.
Here are two cute outfits I found for Philip, it's been 5 years since I saw these boy clothes!

Diaper Redo

As some of you know, we cloth diaper.
A little over 5 years ago, I bought my first cloth diapers.
I choose BumGenius because of their great reviews and we have been very blessed by them.
Now years later and after much use, struggling to meet our cloth diaper needs.

The first problem was the Aplix/hook and loop/velcro.
Whatever you may call it had seen it's better days.
Here is a photo of what our diapers looked like.
The tabs were curling and no longer sticking, it was dingy and just a problem.

Step one was replacing the Aplix with Snaps.
If I knew then, what I know now, I would have started with Snaps.
I spent may days picking off the velcro and adding snaps.
Here is a photo of a diaper with removed Aplix and new Snaps.

The Snap placements aren't perfect on all my diapers,
but they work GREAT now!

The other problem with my cloth diapers were elastic.
After 5 years and all those washes, they had it.
They were super stretched out, which caused leaking.

With a little bit of work and some new elastic,
(1/4 of an inch braided elastic, 4 1/2 inches long)
my diapers are like new!

In the next photo you can see the huge difference.
No more leaking!

I am so excited about my diaper redo!
Lord willing, these diapers will now last us another 5 years!

And in the mean time, I hope to be able to add to our stash.
If anyone has diapers they aren't using or don't want.
Pre-folds,  fitteds, pocket diapers, or whatever,
I would gladly take them off your hands, you can never have enough cloth!

By the way, I do have other diapers too, but these are my favorite, so I'm happy they will live on!
Maybe someday I will show you all my diaper stash. :)

New Diaper

Now that Philip is getting older, he is a super soaker.  Our diapers are doing okay, but I wanted to make him a soaker diaper that would really be absorbent.   So I used 4 layers of microfiber covered with 2 layers of flannel, surrounded in fleece.

I wanted to add a couple snaps, but seem to have miss placed them.
So, a snappi had to do.

I think he likes it!
Covered with one of my old Thirties covers!
It seems to work well.

It lasted for about five minutes before he soiled it.

Which is why we use cloth... so much cheaper!

Pantry Update

Our Pantry had a few hang ups which didn't allow us to finish this past weekend.
But I did want to post the little progress we did make.

Here is my handsome hubby!  Isn't he cute!  The floor was finished and he started to mark the wall where the first shelf would go.
But then he realized upon making the first shelf, that he needed to install the door first!
So, yes, our first door was hung in the Reeder home.
Sadly it wasn't the bathroom door, that still has a curtain.

And here was the total progress from the weekend.

Ceiling Painted
Walls Painted
Floor Installed
Door Installed
Shelves Started

I am thankful for the progress we have made!

Pantry Progress

The Pantry is making Progress.
One step at a time...

The Before Photo
Our pantry has been primed and waiting for completion for a while now.
Yesterday was finally the time!

First thing was paint.
The ceiling was painted white and the walls a very pretty greenish/blue.
(It's the same paint as we painted our bathroom.)

Then hardwoods were started.
Chris really wanted to finish last night, but couldn't.

This is a very tight space with lots and lots of cuts.  Not to mention, that Chris actually had to start in our dining room, chalk lines, and make sure the floor was running straight.
It was a lot of brain work, before the work actually started.

Here is a photo of the dining room started.

Philip was helping clean up scrap felt paper.

I will continue to update the progress as we continue.
Which, Lord Willing, will hopefully be finished this weekend!

Reeder Kids Fall Portraits

This past year, I won a free photo shoot.  Here are the children's Fall Portraits that were taken of them.

 Hannah and Mary
(The photographer didn't get individual shots of these girls.
I was kind of bummed about that. :(
I attempted to crop the other girl out of each of their pictures, but it wasn't the same.
I guess she lost count with all the kids of which she did?)
